The Cleveland Cavaliers have had a very quiet offseason so far. Their major moves have all come from within their own roster.

Of course, those major moves were signing Donovan Mitchell, Evan Mobley, and Jarrett Allen to major contract extensions.

Despite coming up short last season, the Cavaliers have opted not to get aggressive bringing in outside talent. That is something that has been frustrating for the fans.

With the 2024-25 NBA season right around the corner, Cleveland is being urged to make a major roster move.

ESPN has revealed a roster fix that the Cavaliers must make as soon as possible. They believe that Cleveland needs to bring in a two-way wing.

“Mobley and Allen are one of the best defensive tandems in the league and automatically give Cleveland a strong baseline over the course of the season. But who is guarding Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown when the Cavs play the Celtics? Or Khris Middleton when they play the Bucks? Or Paul George when they play the 76ers? No matter how good those two big men are, Cleveland will, at some point, need to address how to better protect the perimeter. Simply bringing back Okoro won’t be enough.”

Speaking of Okoro, the Cavaliers also have not figure out what to do with him. He is still a restricted free agent.

That take about the team’s perimeter defense is very valid. If Cleveland truly wants to compete for a championship, they need to focus on how to defend against the elite offenses in the East. As of right now, they don’t have much of a chance of defending the Boston Celtics.

Bringing Okoro back would be a step in the right direction. However, they really need to add another key piece as well.

More than likely, that move would need to come via a trade. There aren’t many quality free agents left on the market.

All of that being said, it will be interesting to see if the Cavaliers end up making any moves before the regular season. If they don’t, there is a decent chance that they could be players ahead of the NBA trade deadline.

Dwyane Wade is most known for his legendary tenure with the Miami Heat, but the casual NBA fan may forget that he had a brief stint with the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Wade played 46 games with the Cavaliers during the 2017-18 NBA campaign before being traded back to the Miami Heat midway through the season, which means he got a chance to wear Cleveland’s threads.

Apparently, that was the worst part of Wade’s time with the Cavs.

During a recent appearance on the 7PM in Brooklyn podcast with Carmelo Anthony, Wade revealed how much he detested the Cavaliers’ jerseys.

“Ohh it’s nasty,” Wade said of the uniforms. “It’s definitely one of the most nastiest jerseys. But you see, I didn’t even want No. 3 in that jersey ’cause I was like, ‘Nah — this ain’t a good look.’”

During his cup of coffee in Cleveland, Wade averaged 11.2 points, 3.9 rebounds and 3.5 assists over 23.2 minutes per game in a bench role. He shot 45.5 percent from the floor, 32.9 percent from three-point range and 70.1 percent from the free-throw line.

At the time, the Cavs were attempting to put together another championship-caliber roster around LeBron James, with whom Wade won a pair of titles in Miami.

Unfortunately for the Cavaliers, the Wade experiment did not exactly work, and they did right by him by trading him back to the Heat. Wade proceeded to finish his career in South Beach, retiring at the end of the 2018-19 season.

Perhaps Cleveland’s throwbacks would have been a better look for Wade.

CLEVELAND, Ohio — A total of $24.6 million in economic impact for Cuyahoga, Lorain and Lake counties was generated across 12 events hosted as part of the 2024 solar eclipse, according to Destination Cleveland.

In order to come up with that number, Tourism Economics, looked at “visitor spending, including money spent on hotels, meals, retail purchases and transportation,” according to a news release.

They also looked at data for these events:

• Total Eclipse Fest (Great Lakes Science Center/NASA Glenn Research Center)
• Lights Out in The Land (Lake Erie Crushers)
• Solar Eclipse Viewing Party (Lorain County Metro Parks)
• Eclipse Day (Cleveland Metroparks)
• Rooftop Eclipse Party (Music Box Supper Club)
• Avon Lake Eclipse Watch Party (City of Avon Lake)
• Solarfest Weekend (Rock & Roll Hall of Fame)
• Total on the Oval (Wade Oval)
• Eclipse & Sips Viewing Party (Fahrenheit restaurant)
• Solar Eclipse Party on the Runways (The Aviator)
• Total Eclipse at Children’s Museum Cleveland (Children’s Museum of Cleveland)
• Total Eclipse of the Park (Crocker Park)

They note the figure does not account for those who stayed with family or friends or smaller/less formal gatherings because of a lack of available data.

Destination Cleveland also highlighted hotel occupancy increases during the time of the eclipse compared to the previous year, which they say increased 84% in Cuyahoga County, 78% in Lake County and 82% in Lorain County.

“These figures from Tourism Economics show that the eclipse – and the organized events related to it – drove visitation and visitor spending as anticipated,” said David Gilbert, president and CEO of Destination Cleveland, in the release. “Additionally, being in the path of totality put Cleveland in the national spotlight with many national news outlets choosing to broadcast or report from our area. That, combined with the excitement and impact of hosting the NCAA Women’s Final Four Championship just the day prior, has a direct and lasting impact on how people perceive Cleveland.”
