‘Armed and dangerous’ suspect turns himself in after officer-involved shooting in Euclid, police say
EUCLID, Ohio (WOIO) – An “armed and dangerous” suspect that was on the loose following an officer-involved shooting Wednesday is in custody, according to Euclid Police.
Police said the 16-year-old Cleveland resident, turned himself in peacefully at the Euclid Police Department front window.
Around 12:30 p.m. Wednesday in the area of East 222nd and Fox Avenue Euclid, officers spotted and stopped a suspected stolen Hyundai Sonata.
During the traffic stop, an officer shot a 19-year-old man.
Police said the 19-year-old was transported to a local hospital for a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to his leg. His name has not been released.
A 14-year-old male passenger was taken into custody without incident, but a third male fled the scene on foot and police said he should be considered “armed and dangerous.”
Police said shortly after he fled, he pointed a gun at a resident on Hartland Road. The resident was not injured.
A Euclid police detective also suffered a non-gunshot-related injury to his leg and is being treated at a local hospital.
Agents with Ohio’s Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) have been called in to handle the investigation.
