Amber Alert issued for missing 5-year-old from Columbus; vehicle found in Cleveland


Authorities have issued an AMBER Alert early Wednesday for a missing 5-year-old boy from Columbus.

Darnell Taylor was taken from his home by his foster mother, Pammy Maye according to the Ohio Amber Alert website. The boy was last seen about 3:50 a.m. at his home on the 900 block of Reeb Avenue on the city’s South Side, according to police.

Columbus police said Maye’s husband called police and said his wife had woken him up and made statements to him that led him to believe Darnell may have been hurt. Maye then abruptly left the home.

His 48-year-old foster mother was last seen wearing a green floral nightgown with pink shoes. She is 4 feet, 9 inches tall and weighs about 115 pounds.

AMBER Alert SUV found in Cleveland suburb

Police say Maye was driving a grey 2015 Jeep Cherokee with a license plate JIGGZII. The vehicle was found, unoccupied, around 6 a.m. Wednesday in the Cleveland suburb of Brooklyn.

Columbus police will be holding a press conference at 9:45 a.m. to discuss the timeline of events and provide an update on the investigation.

Suspect arrested in CMHA police chase also convicted in IPromise beating


CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) – A car plowed into a home at East 66th and Chester Avenue during a Cleveland Metropolitan Housing Authority Police pursuit Friday.

CMHA Police were pursuing a suspect wanted for felonious assault. Police sources told 19 News they arrested three people, including their suspect.

A few hours later, 19 Investigator Kelly Kennedy made a surprising discovery. According to a law enforcement source, the man arrested by CMHA on Friday was 22-year-old Tyler Stafford. The Cleveland man was one of two brothers charged in the IPromise case that made headlines in 2022.

Cleveland Municipal Court records show a warrant was issued for his arrest on March 20.

A 19 investigation revealed that Stafford was the same man charged in the beating death of 17-year-old Ethan Liming in 2022 outside of the IPromise school.

In 2023 Stafford along with his brother were found not guilty of involuntary manslaughter but were found guilty of assault. Tyler Stafford was sentenced to 6 months behind bars.

A gun was recovered, and three people were taken to MetroHealth Hospital in stable condition.

The home has structural damage, according to the Cleveland Fire Department.

Cleveland police said they are handling the crash investigation.

CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) – One person died and one was seriously injured in a severe car crash Friday night that closed entrance and exit ramps from the Eddy Road Bridge that crosses the Cleveland Memorial Shoreway.

Cuyahoga County’s spokesperson, Jennifer Ciaccia, said that at around 9:45 p.m., Cuyahoga County Sheriff’s deputies attempted a traffic stop for a car driving erratically on East 9th Street when the suspect vehicle fled.

Deputies pursued the suspect’s car, then it exited the freeway onto Eddy Road and struck another car just beyond the intersection of the I-90 off ramp and Eddy Road, according to a release.

Ciaccia said the second car then went over a traffic bridge and caught on fire.

According to Cleveland EMS, units responded to I-90 and Eddy Road for a crash with a car on fire and ejection.

Ciaccia confirmed the driver of the suspect car was pronounced dead on the scene. He was trapped in a car that also caught fire.

The female driver of the second car was seriously injured, and EMS transported her to University Hospital.

Lt. Mike Norman said the Cleveland Fire Department responded to the crash for the two separate car fires.

One of the cars on fire was at the beginning of the on-ramp. Lt. Norman said the other car fire was at the base of the wall east of Eddy Road and south of the on-ramp.

Our 19 News crew returned to the scene where a scorched concrete barrier, car parts, and crime scene tape appear all that remain.

Bratenahl Police, Cleveland Police, and Cleveland Fire all responded to the scene.

Ciaccia said the incident is still under investigation by the Cuyahoga County Sheriff’s Department Detective Bureau.

The identity of the suspect killed has not been released.
