Woman critically injured by falling debris from building in West Town, CPD says

CHICAGO (WLS) — Chicago officers mentioned a lady was critically injured when she was struck by a chunk of a constructing that fell on her.

Chicago police mentioned at about 6 p.m. within the 1200-block of North Milwaukee Avenue, on the intersection of North Ashland Avenue, a 22-year-old girl was struck by falling particles from a close-by business constructing.

Police mentioned she suffered a laceration to her head and was taken to Stroger Hospital in important situation.

Officers didn’t specify what precisely struck her, or whether or not it was a part of a constructing’s facade. In addition they didn’t specify which constructing at that intersection was concerned, simply saying it was a “business constructing.”

Video from the scene exhibits that items of the constructing’s facade and an indication had fallen to the sidewalk.

A witness mentioned it appeared like the world of the facade that fell had been eroding for some time, and that the signal appeared to only be bolted to the facade and never the construction of the constructing itself.

Police mentioned a car driving on Milwaukee was additionally struck by the falling particles. The motive force was not injured, in keeping with CPD.
