Vigil to be held for adjunct professor found beaten to death in Englewood
Aaliyah Newell, 47, was final seen Sunday grabbing drinks along with her mates. Now these mates try to deal with this sudden loss.
“My first thought was, this cannot be actual,” stated Brandy Garris, buddy and sorority sister of the sufferer. “She was a phenomenal, lovely soul and I hate to assume what her final moments had been like.”
Newell labored as a human assets recruiter and school adjunct professor. She was discovered unresponsive in a house within the 7200-block of South Vincennes Avenue in Chicago’s Englewood neighborhood on Wednesday evening. Police stated she suffered blunt drive trauma to her head.
Those that knew and liked her are at a loss.
“She was positively genuine,” Garris stated. “You had been going to get Aaliyah Newell and nothing else. Somebody actually took away an angel on this Earth.”
Garris met and have become shut mates with Newell whereas attending College of Illinois. They had been additionally ‘Alpha Kappa Alpha’ sorority sisters
“Everybody liked Aaliyah,” Garris stated. “Everybody did…She was your sister, she was your mom, she was your confidant.”
Garris, like so many others, says sufficient is sufficient.
“My first thought was, this cannot be actual,” stated Garris. “We skilled a lot trauma these days. We’re uninterested in it, uninterested in it in Chicago and bored with it in our Black and brown group.”
Police stated nobody is at present in custody and no description of any suspect has been launched. An investigation is ongoing.
A candlelight vigil will likely be held Friday to honor Newell.
