Plane hits bird shortly after taking off from O’Hare airport; witnesses report engine fire

CHICAGO (WLS) — A airplane hit a chook because it was taking off from O’Hare Worldwide Airport Friday morning, aviation officers stated.

United Flight #1930 was headed to Miami when it hit the chook shortly after departure, a spokesperson for the Federal Aviation Administration stated. The flight then returned to the airport and landed with out incident round 11:15 a.m.

Witnesses round O’Hare airport informed ABC7 they noticed the airplane’s engine on hearth and heard loud popping sounds shortly after the airplane took off.

A spokesperson for United stated passengers deplaned on the gate and a brand new plane has been assigned to the route.

The FAA stated it’s investigating the incident. No accidents have been reported.
