Illinois residents can again use bird feeders, baths

CHICAGO (WLS) — Illinois residents can now begin utilizing yard chicken feeders and birdbaths once more beginning Wednesday.

The Illinois Division of Pure Sources had suggested residents towards placing them out due to an earlier outbreak of the avian flu.

The EA HFN1 pressure of Extremely Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI) impacted wild and home chicken species in Illinois, based on the IDNR.

HPAI was first detected in wild Canada geese in Illinois in March. Whereas it had not been detected in songbirds, the IDNR advisable residents take down their chicken feeders and baths by the tip of Could, or till HPAI infections subside within the Midwest.

With the spring migration of birds largely full, the chance of lethal chicken flu unfold has now dropped.
