Chicago high-rise residents urged to turn off lights after 11 p.m. during bird migration season

CHICAGO (WLS) — As birds start emigrate by Chicago on their solution to their winter houses, residents are being requested to do their half to assist defend them.

As a part of the “Lights Out Chicago” marketing campaign, residents of tall buildings are requested to prove their lights or draw their blinds after 11 p.m. through the migration season, which runs from late August by November.

The suggestions apply to all buildings of 40 or extra tales and to buildings of 20 or extra tales which can be remoted from different buildings.

Lights from tall buildings can disrupt birds’ migratory paths, inflicting birds to circle buildings repeatedly, based on the Chicago Audobon Society. Consequently, a lot of them die from exhaustion or after colliding with a constructing.
