Stellantis stops car shipments to and from Russia.
Stellantis, the maker of Jeep, Fiat and Peugeot autos, has suspended exports of automobiles from Russia and imports of autos into the nation, the corporate mentioned Thursday.
The automaker operates a small plant in partnership with Mitsubishi in Kaluga, southwest of Moscow. The plant employs about 2,700 individuals and produces small supply vans that Stellantis has been exporting to different European international locations.
Per week in the past, the automaker’s chief government, Carlos Tavares, hinted that the plant might need to halt manufacturing. “The operations will cease as a result of there’s merely no extra elements,” he mentioned in a videoconference.
Stellantis, with headquarters in Amsterdam, was fashioned by a merger of Fiat Chrysler and Peugeot. It makes autos below 14 model names, together with Ram, Chrysler, Maserati, Opel and Citroën.
