Wyoming man pronounced dead at the scene after Laramie County shooting

CHEYENNE, Wyo. — The Laramie County Sheriff’s Office has announced that a Wyoming man has been shot and killed in Laramie County.

That’s according to a social media post from the LCSO on Tuesday, which stated that deputies were investigating a shooting on the 1200 block of County Road 157. According to the post, the shooter had been located and there was not a risk to the public, though residents were urged to avoid the area.

Later that night, the scene had been returned to the property owner, but one individual was pronounced dead at the scene. The Laramie County Coroner’s Office released the identity of the deceased on Thursday: 52-year-old Pine Bluffs resident Kevin Hefley. His next-of-kin has been notified.

“This is an active ongoing investigation,” the post states. “No additional details will be released at this time. Our deepest condolences go out to Kevin’s family and friends in this difficult time.”
