Indivisible 605 gathers in support of VA workers and veterans
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) – South Dakota veterans and the concerned citizens gathered in support of VA workers and veterans on Friday.
The march took place from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. on the 22nd Street sidewalk near Spellerberg Park and the VA entrance.
Indivisible 605 invited the public to join them in supporting VA workers facing job cuts and advocating for veterans’ care.
“During the campaign, he said repeatedly that he supported veterans, as did our South Dakota Congressional delegation. Now, when it’s come time to show up and do something, they’re not. They’re deserting us,” said Vietnam veteran Lloyd Schipper.
According to their Facebook page, Indivisible 605 is dedicated to promoting South Dakota values from a platform of inclusion and equality and utilizes non-violent and polite pressure to defend liberty against the current administration’s authoritarian, nationalist tendencies.
This gathering had a permit from Sioux Falls to assemble legally.
The Associated Press reported that the Department of Veterans Affairs plans on cutting 80,000 jobs to return VA to its staffing levels in 2019.
