Suspect at large after shooting leaves man dead

The Los Angeles Police Department is seeking witnesses after a shooting left a man dead in Sun Valley.

Authorities say the incident occurred around 9:15 p.m. Friday in the 8600 block of Morehart Avenue. Officers responded to a call about an assault with a deadly weapon.

When they arrived, they found a 22-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound as he sat inside his vehicle. The victim had crashed into a parked car after being shot. He was transported to a local hospital where he later died from his injuries.

The victim’s identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

LAPD did not release any details about potential suspect(s). Anyone who may have information about the shooting is asked to contact Valley Bureau Homicide Detectives at 818-374-9550.
