US Marines involved in ‘incident’ in Norway during NATO exercise, rescue underway

A U.S. Marine Corps plane was concerned in an “incident” in northern Norway whereas conducting a NATO train on Friday, in accordance with officers.

The MV-22B Osprey was a part of NATO Train Chilly Response 22. A tweet from the U.S. Marines states that the incident is beneath investigation.

A spokesperson for the II Marine Expeditionary Power mentioned in a press release supplied to Fox Information it’s conscious of a “mishap” involving the plane in Norway.

Norwegian authorities are conducting a search and rescue effort, the spokesperson added.

“We’re grateful for his or her efforts and can help them within the search and rescue in all manners attainable,” the spokesperson mentioned.

The Joint Rescue Coordination Centres of Norway mentioned that rescue crews are headed to the location of the incident.

A press release posted on the Joint Rescue Coordination Centres web site states that climate situations within the space are “difficult” and added that it’s anticipated to worsen.

The Norwegian Armed Forces mentioned the plane’s final identified place was at Saltfjellet.

A rescue helicopter was dispatched, however the mission was canceled.
