Former Afghan lawmaker Mursal Nabizada shot dead in Kabul

Nabizada, a former member of parliament within the United States-backed authorities, was killed by assailants at her house, police say.

A former Afghan feminine legislator and certainly one of her bodyguards have been killed at her house in Afghanistan’s capital Kabul, police have stated.

Mursal Nabizada had been a member of parliament within the United States-backed authorities that was deposed by the Taliban in August 2021. She was among the many few feminine parliamentarians who stayed in Kabul after the Taliban takeover.

“Nabizada, together with certainly one of her bodyguards, was shot useless at her home,” Kabul police spokesman Khalid Zadran stated on Sunday.

Former lawmaker Mariam Solaimankhil stated on Twitter that Nabizada was a “fearless champion for Afghanistan”.

“A real trailblazer – sturdy, outspoken girl who stood for what she believed in, even within the face of hazard,” she wrote.

Member of the European Parliament Hannah Neumann tweeted: “I’m unhappy and offended and need the world to know!”
