Wyoming Sisters Killed After Pickup Spins Out, Hit by Semi

Two Powell, Wyoming sisters had been killed Friday after the pickup they had been touring in spun out and was hit by an oncoming semi, the Freeway Patrol says.

The crash occurred round 12:45 p.m. close to mile marker 14 on U.S. 14A, between Cody and Powell.

“The Silverado began spinning in a counterclockwise path throughout all 5 freeway lanes and into the trail of the oncoming tractor-trailer,” the abstract reads. “The Silverado impacted the entrance of the tractor-trailer with the tailgate space, inflicting extreme harm to the pickup truck.”

Shannah and Wendy, neither of whom was carrying a seat belt, died on the scene. The trucker was not injured within the crash.

Pace is listed as a potential contributing issue.

The sisters are the twenty fourth and twenty fifth reported individuals to die on Wyoming’s highways in 2023 in comparison with 12 in 2022, 17 in 2021, seven in 2020, and 18 in 2019 so far.
