CASPER, Wyo. – A cold front moving into the Cowboy State promises relief after weeks of unusually warm and dry conditions that brought an unprecedented fire season to central and northern Wyoming.
According to the National Weather Service in Riverton, Thursday will be windy and partly sunny before chances of rain showers develop after 2 p.m. Gusts at times could reach 41 mph, and a high of 66 degrees is expected.
Showers and thunderstorms are likely overnight as the low dips to 35 degrees, and up to an inch of precipitation is possible.
On Friday, a mix of rain and snow is likely intermittently throughout the day. About an inch of precipitation is likely. Overnight Friday will bring a freeze watch as a low of 28 degrees is expected. Rain and snow showers are possible before midnight.
Saturday will be sunny with a high of 52 degrees and light breezes. Sunday will see a high of 57 degrees. Highs in the mid to upper 60s are expected early next week.
