Washington Square mall is safe after incident with ‘disgruntled’ employee caused panic, police say
Some panicked shoppers inside Washington Square mall on Sunday mistook a crashing sound for a possible shooting.
It wasn’t a shooting at all, Tigard police said in a statement posted to social media around 1 p.m.
Instead, a mall employee whom police described as “disgruntled” shattered a glass case inside a store.
That “led to some panic inside the mall as people worked to figure out what they heard,” police wrote on X.
