As mobilization begins in Russia, sold-out flights, protests and arrests: Inside hours of Putin’s speech declaring a partial army mobilization, males throughout Russia began receiving written notices and telephone calls summoning them to obligation, writes Put up reporter Mary Ilyushina. Some males, principally reservists beneath age 35, spoke to Ilyushina on the situation of anonymity about receiving the calls they’d been dreading for months.

In the meantime, Google search traits confirmed a spike in queries like “The right way to depart Russia” and even “The right way to break an arm at house,” as protests erupted in some cities and an internet petition in opposition to mobilization, initiated final spring, all of the sudden had greater than 292,000 signatures.
