Over two dozen structures threatened by uncontained wildfire in Washington Township

Firefighters are battling a raging wildfire in Washington Township that officers say is threatening over two dozen buildings. 

The New Jersey Forest Fireplace Service tweeted Tuesday afternoon that the fireplace has consumed 75 acres close to Route 542 and River Street.

It was first detected within the space of Bass River Fireplace Tower shortly earlier than midday, in line with the fireplace service. 

Since then, a number of roads have been closed together with Route 542 between Wading River Bridge and Lovers Lane. Outdated Church Street and River Street are additionally closed to site visitors.

An estimated 30 buildings are threatened by the wildfire that’s at present 0% contained.
