The Angels are interviewing former Texas Rangers manager Ron Washington for the managerial role Tuesday night, The Athletic’s Sam Blum reported.

Currently the Braves’ third base coach, Washington hasn’t been a manager for a club since he resigned as Rangers manager in 2014. Washington, 71, led the Rangers to five winning seasons during his eight years in Arlington, including two division titles and the franchise’s first two AL pennants.

It was only a week ago that the Rangers overcame their playoff woes and won their first World Series under manager Bruce Bochy.

Former Angels manager Phil Nevin was fired after the season ended. Their next manager would be the fourth in six seasons.
