(Trent Nelson | The Salt Lake Tribune) A Good Friday procession stops on the First Presbyterian Church in Salt Lake Metropolis on Friday, April 15, 2022.

Utah Christians united to mark the beginning of Western Christianity’s holiest weekend of the 12 months with a Good Friday procession by means of the center of Salt Lake Metropolis.

The annual interfaith Procession of the Cross — a pre-Easter staple for almost 4 many years — began on the Cathedral of the Madeleine on South Temple adopted by stops at close by First Presbyterian Church, First United Methodist Church, St. Mark’s Episcopal Cathedral and the Crossroads Meals Pantry.

The march is supposed to symbolically retrace Jesus’ steps to Golgotha, with contributors taking turns bearing the cross in a buildup to Easter Sunday.
