IRON COUNTY, Utah — Search and rescue crews have recovered the physique of a 14-year-old boy who went underneath the water at Newcastle Reservoir on Saturday.
Officers with the Iron County Sheriff’s Workplace stated the boy’s physique was situated at 4:45 a.m. Sunday by crews utilizing underwater drones and sonar.
The search started after the boy fell into the water Saturday afternoon. Deputies stated two brothers — a 14-year-old and a 17-year-old — have been each in kayaks, not carrying life jackets and trying to knock one another out of the kayaks.
“It was reported the 14-year-old didn’t know tips on how to swim, and went underneath in about 10-12 toes of water,” Iron County officers stated. “On the time 911 was notified, the 14-year-old had been underneath the water for roughly 10 minutes.”
People started looking out the water earlier than helicopters from Intermountain Healthcare and Southern Utah College joined the search.
