1 dead, 1 hospitalized in critical condition after Utah plane crash
Jan. 3 (UPI) — A small aircraft with 4 folks on board has crashed close to Salt lake Metropolis, killing one individual and hospitalizing one other in essential situation, officers stated.
The incident occurred at about 11:35 a.m. Monday on the Provo Municipal Airport, positioned within the Utah metropolis of Provo, which is about 45 miles south of the state capital.
Provo metropolis officers stated the aircraft crashed instantly after takeoff. The 2 different occupants of the aircraft solely obtained minor “bumps and bruises,” the town stated in a statement.
The identifies of the victims weren’t launched to the general public.
The airport stated it will likely be closed till midday Tuesday as a result of crash.
“As is typical with an incident of this nature, the Provo Airport has been closed awaiting an investigation by the FAA and the NTSB,” it stated in a statement.
The Nationwide Transportation Security Board, which confirmed it was investigating the crash, has identified the plane as an Embraer 505, a twin-engine jet.
The reason for the crash was unclear, officers stated.
“No person is aware of what occurred,” airport director Brian Torgersen advised FOX 13. “Instantly after takeoff one thing occurred to trigger the plane to lose management.
“It is a devastating scene, and we’re heartbroken for the household and people concerned,” he stated.
