US Highway 2 northeast of Seattle to remain closed through Monday
SEATTLE (KPTV) – As personnel engaged on the Bolt Creek hearth clear particles and safe bushes and boulders that might tumble into the roadway, U.S. Freeway 2 northeast of Seattle will stay closed between Index and Skykomish by not less than Monday.
In accordance with The Seattle Occasions, the closure may stay longer. On Wednesday night time, in accordance with officers, a large Douglas fir tree that had been broken by hearth toppled, slid throughout the highway, and broke by the guardrail.
The Washington State Division of Transportation has been clearing the highway and restoring entry for firefighters. On Monday, emergency responders will decide whether or not the highway might be opened.
In accordance with Rachel Lipsky of Northwest Incident Administration Group 8, the announcement of the freeway closure approaching Stevens Cross is being made in order that vacationers could make applicable plans.
As of Thursday the blaze had burned an estimated 14.75 sq. miles.
