Suspect arrested after allegedly hijacking San Francisco bus
SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — San Francisco police arrested a suspect who allegedly hijacked a Muni commuter bus, assaulted the motive force and hit a number of different autos Friday evening. Officer Robert Rueca of the San Francisco Police Division stated the suspect, who was not recognized, was detained after the bus stopped.
Officers responded to a report of a carjacking at 7:53 p.m. at Cortland Avenue and Mission Avenue within the Mission District, police stated.
The suspect assaulted the motive force, drove the bus and “struck a number of autos” earlier than stopping at nineteenth and Guerrero streets, police stated. There have been no passengers on the bus on the time, police stated.
An ambulance responded to the scene and the bus driver and the motive force of one other automobile have been handled for what police stated gave the impression to be “non-life-threatening” medical situations.
Muni is San Francisco’s community of buses, gentle rail Metro trains, streetcars and cable automobiles, in response to the Muni web site.
