San Francisco sues companies for alleged illegal dumping on Treasure Island

SAN FRANCISCO – San Francisco Metropolis Lawyer David Chiu introduced Tuesday a lawsuit towards three corporations alleging they illegally dumped a number of tons of soil and different supplies on Treasure Island in 2019.
The swimsuit was filed towards Tip High Trucking, LLC, Neeve Engineering, Inc., and Neeve’s principal, Joseph Lawrence, in search of damages and penalties, after town spent $200,000 to have the supplies examined and eliminated, Chiu stated within the assertion.
“1000’s of San Franciscans stay on Treasure Island–it will not be a dumping floor,” stated Chiu. “We’re in search of to cowl the prices of eradicating and testing the illegally disposed materials, making certain the Metropolis is made complete.”
The lawsuit alleges the defendants violated California’s Unfair Competitors Legislation by violating town’s unlawful dumping ordinance, making a public nuisance, and trespassing on Metropolis property.
The dumping was witnessed in Could 2019 on Metropolis property close to Avenue I and fifth Road by a contractor for the Treasure Island Growth Authority. Not one of the defendants had permission from the Metropolis to interact on this exercise, Chiu stated.
