SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — A police canine is recovering after being stabbed by a suspect that officers had been chasing by a San Diego riverbed.

Police say the suspect was needed for a earlier assault.

“He is a prolific suspect right here within the riverbed. We have had a number of incidents with him,” mentioned Lt. Casey Gini, SDPD.

In video captured on the scene, the police canine, named Carson, follows the suspect into the water. The person is seen stabbing the canine a number of occasions.
