UPDATE: Oregon Coast Evacuations Cancelled; Hwy 101 at Waldport Back Open

(Waldport, Oregon) – UPDATES: HWY 101 BACK OPEN, ALL EVACUATION ORDERS RESCINDED. According to Lincoln County Oregon Emergency Management:

As of 6:20 pm

All Wildfire evacuations for South of Waldport have been cancelled by Public Safety Officials; All community members can return to their homes. 

Hwy 101 is back open.

Central Oregon Coast Fire is reporting the blaze is under control.

According to ODOT, the road closure is still in effect but that may change any second. See below for alternate routes

Parts of Waldport on the central Oregon coast at this hour (6 p.m.) are being issued a Level 3 – Go Now evacuation notice as well as a Level 2 – Be Set to Evacuate notice, as a wildfire is raging in the area. Highway 101 just south of town has been closed: those traveling in the area or evacuating will need to take an alternate route, said Lincoln County Oregon Emergency Management (LCOEM).

“Evacuation route would be South on Hwy 101 from Wakonda Beach Road and/or North on South Crest Line Drive,” LCOEM said.

The Level 3 – Go Now evacuation notice is for just south of Waldport from White Cap road to SW Azalea Lane.

“There is extreme fire danger in your area – you and your family should evacuate now,” LOCOEM said in its notice. “If you are unable to evacuate yourself or family members, dial 911 to request assistance. Do not stop to gather your belongings or protect your home. Follow your emergency plan. “

Also for this part of the central Oregon coast is a Wildfire Evacuation Notice Level 2 – BE SET to Evacuate.

The agency said Central Oregon Coast Fire (Waldport) is currently working the active fire at on those two streets, but the adjacent area is now under the Level 2 notice.

For locals living in the area, be set to evacuate at any minute. A Go Now notice may be issued at any time.

“Continue to monitor your telephones for updates from public safety officials,” LOCOEM said. “Now is the time to ready yourself and your family for evacuation – leave early if you have need extra time to evacuate family members, pets, livestock or recreational vehicles then.”

According to ODOT, the road closure is at MP 157. Visitors currently on the Oregon coast for the holiday weekend should avoid the area and let residents deal with evacuations.
