Oregon’s 2022 Kid Governor visits shelter pets in Portland

PORTLAND, Ore. (KPTV) – Oregon’s 2022 Child Governor made a cease in Portland this month to go to some shelter pets.

Emerie Martin visited the Oregon Humane Society and met with the OHS president to debate a poster contest to assist increase consciousness on animal abuse and neglect.

The fifth grader has been a vocal advocate for legal guidelines and laws for background checks for proudly owning animals.

“Individuals are abusing animals throughout Oregon. Consider a pet or animal you’re keen on, are you able to think about it getting locked in a sizzling automotive? Or being left with out meals or water? It could crush you.” Martin stated. “That’s my trigger. I need to assist cease animal abuse and assist their voices be heard.”

The Oregon Child Governor program is supposed to introduce children to civic training. Fifth graders from across the state acquired to vote they usually selected Martin out of seven candidates.
