Oregon semiconductor bill takes shape, but lawmakers say they’ll need a sequel
Legislators are shifting towards giving Gov. Tina Kotek extraordinary energy to avoid parts of state land-use regulation to seek out websites for semiconductor manufacturing and to offer greater than $200 million in grants to chipmakers seeking to construct new Oregon factories.
Business advocates say it’s not practically sufficient. They need as much as $500 million extra to arrange industrial websites for growth, plus tax credit that will reward firms that put money into Oregon analysis.
