LSU to face Oregon State in Baton Rouge Regional winners’ bracket Saturday

LSU’s recent postseason rivalry with Oregon State is set to renew on Saturday as the two teams will face in the winners’ bracket at the Baton Rouge Regional after each won their opening games on Friday.

The two-seeded Beavers absolutely clobbered three-seeded Sam Houston State in the nightcap, winning 18-2 after registering 22 total hits and three innings of at least four runs. OSU didn’t have to go too deep into its bullpen, with only two relievers pitching a combined 1.2 innings.

The Tigers, on the other hand, didn’t have to dip into the bullpen, at all. Ace Paul Skenes got the nod, and he pitched a complete game (the first of nine innings in his career). LSU beat Tulane 7-2 to advance to the winners’ game.

These programs have met just seven times, but all of them have come in the postseason. They last faced in the Corvallis Regional in 2018, where the Beavers took both matchups by a combined score of 26-1.
