Wild Horse Removal in Nevada Unlawfully Delayed, Suit Says
The Interior Department unlawfully delayed the removal of 689 wild horses on public lands in central Nevada, cattle ranchers alleged in a federal lawsuit.
Colvin & Son LLC and Stone Cabin Ranch LLC, which both hold livestock grazing permits in the Stone Cabin Complex, claimed that government agencies deferred the implementation of a 2023 management plan which called for the removal of wild horses in the area.
The Stone Cabin Complex—which is located 30 miles east of Tonopah, Nevada—is home to several herd management areas which have experienced a substantial overpopulation of horses in recent years.
