Nearly $1 million headed to Nevada for improving air quality

RENO, Nev. (KOLO) – Practically $1 million is headed to the state of Nevada to watch and enhance air high quality within the Silver State.

The funds are handed out by the EPA by the Inflation Discount Act and the American Rescue Plan.

“Nevada is dealing with worsening air high quality as elevated wildfires and carbon emissions pollute our air,” mentioned Senator Rosen, who introduced the funding Thursday. “I’m glad to announce Nevada shall be receiving virtually $1 million in federal funding to assist Nevada’s communities higher monitor air high quality ranges, tackle threats to worsening air high quality, and assist maintain our air clear.”

The funding contains:

• Over $213,000 for the Washoe County District Well being Division to determine new state and native air monitoring techniques within the western portion of Reno, which usually experiences the best air air pollution concentrations in Washoe County resulting from interstate transport and wildfire smoke.
• Nearly $100,000 for the Shoshone Paiute Tribes of Duck Valley to create its first-ever air high quality monitoring system on the Reservation.
• Nearly $494,000 for the Fort McDermitt Paiute-Shoshone Tribe to determine air high quality monitoring for the Reservation and spend money on workers coaching and capability constructing.
