Mural unveiled at Nevada State Museum in Carson City in time for upcoming Mark Twain Days


A mural of Mark Twain was unveiled Thursday on the Nevada State Museum in Carson Metropolis in time for the upcoming Mark Twain Days Pageant.

The Nevada State Museum partnered with Go to Carson Metropolis and artist Jamie Vincek for the general public arts initiative highlighting the legendary author of letters, literature and satire.

Together with the Inaugural Mark Twain Days competition April 21-23, Go to Carson Metropolis partnered with the Nevada State Museum to fee a Mark Twain Mural put in on the Robinson Road exterior wall of the museum.

In accordance with Josh Bonde, Director of the Nevada State Museum “The Nevada State Museum is worked up to associate with Go to Carson Metropolis on this mural challenge highlighting the function of an American literary grasp and their historical past proper right here in Carson Metropolis. We’re proud to help public arts initiatives like this, together with our neighborhood companions.”

Artist Jamie Vincek was chosen by a public artwork panel to undertake this bold challenge that has been created on aluminum panels that had been put in on the Nevada State Museum final week. The artist’s proposal was the stand-out winner with its colourful and kooky portrayal of Samuel Clemens (a.ok.a. Mark Twain) who first signed his identify proper right here in Carson Metropolis … “Yours Dreamily Mark Twain.”

Elko Police Department asking for help finding suspects


The Elko Police Department is asking for the public’s help after recovering almost $45,000 worth of stolen goods.

A search warrant was carried out last week on Dodge Avenue in South Fork, and officials found property that had been reported as stolen from multiple different businesses in the Elko area.

The stolen property included handguns.

Police are now looking for 44-year old Charles Milburn and 36-year old Stevie Loveridge, both of South Fork, in connection to this case.

RENO, Nev. (AP) — Xavier Dusell’s 25 points helped Nevada defeat Texas Southern 105-73 on Saturday night.

Dusell shot 8 for 12, including 7 for 11 from beyond the arc for the Wolf Pack (8-3). Nick Davidson scored 21 points while shooting 7 for 10 (3 for 6 from 3-point range) and 4 of 4 from the free-throw line and added five rebounds and seven assists. Kobe Sanders shot 5 of 9 from the field, including 2 for 5 from 3-point range, and went 6 for 7 from the foul line to finish with 18 points.

The Tigers (1-8) were led by Zaire Hayes, who posted 16 points. Kavion McClain added 13 points and four assists for Texas Southern. Kenny Hunter also had eight points and seven rebounds.

Nevada took the lead with 19:42 left in the first half and did not relinquish it. The score was 55-31 at halftime, with Dusell racking up 17 points. Nevada extended its lead to 95-60 during the second half, fueled by a 17-2 scoring run. Davidson scored a team-high 11 points in the second half as their team closed out the win.
