11 adult-centric Halloween events in Northern Nevada and Lake Tahoe

The Halloween season isn’t just for kids. The region is hosting a full slate of events geared toward the 21-plus crowd, including wine walks, beer crawls, concerts and three screenings of the cult classic “The Rocky Horror Picture Show.” Here’s the full rundown.

‘Witch Way to the Wine’ Third Thursday Wine Walk, Oct. 19

Gardnerville’s Main Street hosts its final Wine Walk of 2023, and it’s both witchy and pink. Dig out your pink pointed hats and help out local cancer centers at the event, which runs from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $20. For details, visit mainstreetgardnerville.org.

Wicked Wine Walk, Oct. 21

It’s the first of two roaming revelry events on Saturday as the Riverwalk Merchants Association puts a Halloween costume theme on its monthly Wine Walk event, which runs from 2 to 5 p.m. Tickets are $30. For details and tickets, visit renoriver.org.

Reno Zombie Crawl, Oct. 21

Upward of 20,000 costumed revelers will roam the streets of downtown Reno for the October edition of the Biggest Little City bar crawl. This year, 39 bars, restaurants and nightclubs are participating during the event, which lasts from 8 p.m. until 2 a.m. For details, visit crawlreno.com.

‘The Rocky Horror Picture Show,’ Oct. 21, Oct. 27: 

The Loft, a theater, lounge and restaurant at South Lake Tahoe, will have two screenings of the campy hit, and yes, audience participation is mandatory. The pre-show begins at 11:30 p.m., with the film beginning at midnight. Tickets are $25. For details, visit thelofttahoe.com.

Funkoween, Oct. 27

For Halloween weekend, this show features Polyrhythmics, a Seattle band that also throws in Afrobeat and classic psychedelic rock into their funk-rock mix, and local funk-meets-rock-meets-R&B group Tha Exchange. Shocktober: The Metal Exorcism, Oct. 28

A costume contest is part of this heavy-themed Halloween weekend show featuring the bands Withered Oath, Hired Fun, Resistance, One’s True Will and Felipendejo. It all begins at 7 p.m. at Alturas Bar, 1044 E. 4th St. There is a $10 cover charge. Details at 775-324-5050 or facebook.com/alturasnv.

The Spirits Made Me Do It Saloon Crawl, Oct. 28

Virginia City’s C Street saloons and merchants are competing for “most enchanting cocktail” and “creepiest crawl stop” on this tour of some of the oldest and most storied watering holes in the state. All Hallows Eve Ball, Oct. 28

Step back in time at the third annual All Hallows Eve Victorian Ball at Virginia City’s historic Fourth Ward School Museum. Highlights include flashlight tours, tarot readings and a costume contest. The event runs from 7 to 10 p.m.; tickets are $50. For details, visit fourthwardschool.org.

Halloween Bass Ball, Oct. 28

A DJ/artist from France making inroads in the U.S. club scene, Hol! is the headliner for this year’s Halloween Bass Ball. It takes place at 8 p.m. at Cargo Concert Hall, Whitney Peak Hotel, 255 N. Virginia. Tickets are $20-$40. Details at 775-398-5400 or cargoreno.com.

‘The Rocky Horror Picture Show,’ Oct. 31:
