Idaho
Which counties in Idaho have the most Latter-day Saint stakes?
Amongst Idaho’s 44 counties, Madison County — the house of Rexburg and BYU–Idaho — has probably the most stakes, with 23.
Madison’s neighbor to the south, Bonneville County, which incorporates Idaho Falls, has 20 stakes, the second most amongst Idaho counties. (A stake in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is comprised of a number of wards and/or branches.)
Ada County, in southwest Idaho, has 19 stakes. Ada County, the state’s most populous county, consists of Boise, the state’s capital metropolis and largest metropolis, and suburban Meridian, the state’s second-largest metropolis. Ada is the one Idaho county with two Latter-day Saint temples, the Boise Idaho and Meridian Idaho temples.
Madison County, which already hosts the Rexburg Idaho Temple, may even be residence to the Teton River Idaho Temple, which is in planning levels for north Rexburg.
Twenty-nine of the 44 counties have at the least one stake with headquarters inside their boundaries. The counties are listed alphabetically on the accompanying chart, adopted by the variety of stakes.
