UPDATE

The bridge between Roberts and Menan on Idaho Freeway 48 is again open.

Crews with the Idaho Transportation Division spent Monday afternoon eradicating the broken floor and pouring asphalt as a substitute.

This can be a momentary answer to the issue. ITD is understanding a long-term plan with the county. Everlasting repairs will occur at a later date.

MENAN – A broken bridge in Jefferson County could also be opening as much as visitors later this week.

The bridge on Idaho Freeway 48 between Roberts and Menan was shut down Sunday night after intensive floor injury was reported.

Engineers with the Idaho Transportation Division inspected the bridge Monday morning and decided the higher layer of the bridge floor indifferent from the layer beneath, inflicting the floor to interrupt an element. It’s not clear what prompted it, however ITD studies the bridge is structurally sound. Repairs will must be made earlier than it’s secure for drivers.

ITD and County Commissioners are discussing a brief answer to allow them to open it as much as visitors as quickly as potential. They’re hoping to reopen the bridge on Thursday night or Friday morning.

Everlasting repairs will happen at a later date.

Till then, visitors is being diverted. These residing on the east aspect of the Snake River can take Lewisville Freeway all the way down to County Line Street. Bassett Street to County Line or Interstate 15 is an accessible route for individuals on the west aspect.
