North Idaho College receives show cause letter
North Idaho School acquired an motion letter of “present trigger” late Thursday from its accrediting group, the Northwest Fee on Faculties and Universities.
NIC has till March 13 to submit a report explaining why its accreditation shouldn’t be withdrawn.
The letter states that the NWCCU Govt Committee is “satisfied that the NIC Board of Trustees has not proven adequate responsiveness to earlier fee motion and, thus, fails to sufficiently recognize the jeopardy it’s inserting the establishment in with respect to the welfare and viability of the establishment.”
That is adopted by a prolonged record of eligibility necessities and requirements for accreditation that NIC should tackle.
“NWCCU might require an accredited or candidate establishment to indicate trigger and word its accreditation is in jeopardy, when it doesn’t seem like in compliance with Requirements for Accreditation, Eligibility Necessities, Insurance policies, or relevant federal laws, and there may be proof the non-compliance is sufficiently egregious such that it raises considerations the establishment: has not made adequate progress towards attaining compliance; doesn’t seem to display capability to adjust to Requirements for Accreditation, Eligibility Necessities, Insurance policies, or relevant federal laws beneath a timeframe set by the Fee pursuant to 34 CFR § 602.20(a)(2); is in imminent hazard of closing; has demonstrated a scarcity of integrity, truthfulness, or accountability, and the Fee determines college students could also be harmed; or info from monitoring actions suggests critical considerations associated to scholar achievement, viability and capability, or monetary well being.
A present trigger motion requires the establishment to current proof why its accreditation shouldn’t be withdrawn. A present trigger motion will determine Requirements for Accreditation, Eligibility Necessities, Insurance policies, or federal laws that should be addressed in a present trigger report,
the due date, and require a present trigger go to. For accreditation to be reaffirmed, the present trigger report should present proof the establishment made all essential enhancements and meets the Requirements for Accreditation, Insurance policies, and relevant federal laws. An on-site present trigger go to will comply with submission of the present trigger report back to confirm the data submitted.
The present trigger motion would require a teach-out plan and, if relevant, teach-out settlement(s).
The establishment could also be required to seem earlier than the Fee to think about the standing of its accreditation.”
The present trigger requires a teach-out plan and should present proof that NIC has made all essential enhancements.
A peer evaluation group will go to NIC April 17 and 18 to confirm the data in NIC’s present trigger report and teach-out plan.
