Man arrested after allegedly running around campground holding a pelican – East Idaho News
REXBURG – A person was charged with misdemeanor disturbing the peace and resisting or obstructing officers on July 11, after he was allegedly intoxicated and working round a campground holding a pelican.
The person was arrested on July 11 on the Heat Slough campground in Rexburg, after a witness known as the Madison County Sheriff’s Division after reporting that three intoxicated males “had caught a pelican and have been carrying it across the campground,” in keeping with police studies.
When officers arrived, they informed the three males that they have been being given a warning for harassing the wildlife.
In line with Idaho Fish and Recreation, pelicans are federally protected by the Migratory Fowl Treaty Act.
Two of the lads, reportedly started yelling on the officers. The third man admitted that that they had caught the pelican and allegedly then tried to calm the opposite two males.
In line with court docket paperwork, the 2 males continued to scream and “flip off” the officers.
One among them allegedly started cursing loudly and “inflicting a disturbance with the households and youngsters on the rivers edge.” The person then reportedly reached for the officer’s vest and was taken to the bottom by officers and handcuffed.
The person was booked into the Madison County Jail. If convicted, the person may spend as much as six months in jail.
