BOISE, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — The Lieutenant Governor debates between Consultant Priscilla Giddings and Scott Bedke have been canceled because of Giddings backing out.

Giddings stated her purpose for backing out was that she believed the questions can be biased.

Her marketing campaign spokesman stated in an e mail to Idaho Public Tv that the panelists must be accredited beforehand, one thing that has not been accredited for any candidate.

“The Idaho Debates companions don’t reveal reporters on the panel to any candidate upfront,” stated Melissa Davlin of Idaho Public Tv, the scheduled moderator for the controversy. “That is so campaigns can’t decide and select who asks questions of them. We tried to work with the Giddings marketing campaign throughout the parameters of our guidelines.”

Marketing campaign spokesman Zach Lautenschlager stated in an e mail: “The choice to withhold the names of the panelists on the false pretense that this may instantly make them truthful and respectful leaves us with little or no selection. … We’re compelled to refuse the invitation.”
