Idaho lawmakers float 'embryo adoption' tax break
Idaho lawmakers are considering giving people a tax break on certain costs related to in vitro fertilization, though it won’t happen this year.
The proposed deduction would apply to legal and medical expenses related to so-called “embryo adoptions.”
“Those donated embryos are the results of other families that have gone through the IVF process and, in the end, they have extra embryos and they want to put them out there for adoption,” said one of the bill’s sponsors, Rep. Brooke Green (D-Boise)
Multiple embryos are typically produced during each cycle of in vitro fertilization, but not all of them get used.
That tax break would be capped at $10,000 and would only be available if the embryo results in a live birth.
“This sends a much needed message about the importance of families and that we are looking for avenues to help send out the message that we want to help families grow on their own terms,” said Rep. Britt Raybould (R-Rexburg).
A House committee voted to introduce the bill Thursday morning to discuss the issue further over the next year.

Both occupants, a 50-year-old man and a 66-year-old man, both from Nampa, died at the scene. The crash remains under investigation by the ISP.

Idaho man buys fastest go-kart he can find on Facebook Marketplace and ends up having one hell of a ride
This Idaho man bought the fastest go-kart he could find on Facebook Marketplace, and it took him on one wild ride.
YouTube channel BUM Motorsport was the lucky buyer who got his hands on this go-kart, described as ‘by far the sketchiest vehicle we’ve ever driven’.
With a claimed 100mph and a rocket attachment, it’s no wonder he felt this way.
But sketchy or not, would this be a fun ride or just a bumpy one?

What happened when this Idaho man bought a seriously fast go-kart?
This go-kart was remarkable, with huge Hoosier tires and a homemade rocket booster giving it that extra bit of oomph.
After driving more than 10 hours to pick it up, the team at BUM was hoping it’d be worth the trip.
Describing the design as ‘well-built but janky’, they got to work, starting it up.
On the first start attempt, they got it fired up quickly, but discovered that the brakes don’t work on a shop roll test.
As you might imagine, this prompted a full hardware check and brake bleeding.
On the first drive, they logged 55mph, leaving the team impressed given how sketchy it looked.
Deeming the rocket to be too dangerous to use on a public road, they opted for nitrous instead.
Feeling very Fast & Furious, the nitrous hit got them up to 98.9mph.
Knowing that they could go even faster with the rocket being used, they teased bringing this in for a future video.

There’s a lot of great stuff over on Facebook Marketplace
The fact that this go-kart was sourced from Facebook Marketplace just goes to show how you can get practically anything from there.
Whether it’s a car promoted through an AI advert or the cheapest Ferrari, there’s a whole host of vehicles on there.
Not that the cars going for sale on the platform are all gems, that’s certainly not the case – as the men who bought ‘the worst car‘ discovered when they opened the trunk.
This go-kart was certainly in a league of its own, whichever way you want to look at it.

Boise music community rallies for Treefort artist hospitalized after rollover crash
BOISE, Idaho (CBS2) — Boise’s music community is rallying around musician and Treefort Music Fest artist Emilee Gomske after she was seriously injured in a rollover crash near Idaho Falls.
Family members say Gomske, 29, is hospitalized with a traumatic brain injury and remains in the ICU and unconscious, but they are hopeful. Gomske is well known in Boise’s music scene and was scheduled to perform during this year’s Treefort.
The Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office says that Gomske was the passenger in a 2001 Volkswagen Golf. The driver reportedly veered off the right side of the road before entering an irrigation system and flipping into a field before violently rolling over. According to East Idaho News, which first reported on the crash, Gomske’s family says she suffered a fractured skull, two brain bleeds, and a broken nose during the crash.
Friends and fans have launched a GoFundMe to help cover medical costs.
