BOISE – July 3 is a special day in Idaho. On July 3, 1890, President Benjamin Harrison signed an act of Congress officially establishing Idaho as a U.S. state. Idaho statehood day falls right before July 4, the day all U.S. citizens celebrate American Independence.

When I look out at our beautiful mountains, forests and wildlife, rivers and lakes, it’s easy to see why people fall in love with our “gem” of a state.” Idaho Governor Bad Little states in a press release, “The greatness of Idaho is immense and growing. In the past few years, we have seen opportunity flourish, with record low unemployment rates and a robust economy. We are sending more money to the things that matter – education, infrastructure, public safety, and deploying historic tax relief. We’re planning for the future by investing in better broadband, water systems, and behavioral health services.
