‘The world prayed for me’: Hawaii boy run over by lawn mower makes ‘remarkable’ recovery
HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – It’s been nearly a year since a young boy was rushed to the hospital after being run over by a lawn mower in Ewa Beach.
His doctor says the child’s recovery in such a short time is remarkable.
8-year-old Parker Israel was discharged back in February after 11 weeks at Kapiolani Medical Center For Women and Children.
He’s now finished four months of physical therapy and is back to school full-time.
His mom says he’s living life like a normal kid again, including running and swimming.
“The whole world they prayed for me,” said Parker.
“It took like forever to work on my legs and stuff. I went through all that pain to get my legs bettered. Then, when it all healed, I could be a normal human again with normal legs.”
His doctor says the child’s recovery in such a short time is amazing.
“He will be able to do the vast majority of things he wishes to do. His recovery has been remarkable from that standpoint,” said Dr. Daniel Murariu, who performed the operation at Kapiolani Medical Center For Women and Children.
Parker’s mom says the next big goal is to get him back into a flag football team.
