After nearly 20 years, chef from Hawaii takes home prestigious culinary award

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – A Hawaii chef was named the 2022 James Beard Award winner for the Finest Chef within the Northwest and Pacific Area.

Robynne Maiʻi is the primary winner from Hawaii since 2003 and the primary girl of Hawaiian ancestry to ever obtain the dignity.

She is the chef and co-owner of the award-winning restaurant Fête together with newly opened restaurant Heyday situated on the historic White Sands Lodge in Waikiki.

“We wished to open up the restaurant that I wished to work in. I wished to offer more cash to our employees. I wished to supply maternity go away. I wished to offer medical health insurance to everybody. I believed why is our trade the one trade that doesn’t have regular issues?” Maiʻi stated.

Born and raised in Honolulu, Maiʻi earned her culinary and pastry arts diploma from Kapiolani Neighborhood Faculty and a grasp’s diploma in meals research from New York College.
