They’re building a photo opportunity and the world’s largest ice cream cone, 11 feet tall, in Englewood today, noon to 5 p.m. at Walmart Supercenter, 601 Englewood Parkway. It’s launch day for Muddy Bites in Walmarts nationwide and there will be samples, you betcha. Muddy Bites are described as waffle cone snacks covered in chocolate. muddybites.com

You can run the 5K, stroll it or just jog along through downtown to the finish line around the warning track at Coors Field. It’s the Colorado Rockies 5K and there’s a post-run party and tickets to a game. Run starts at 8 a.m. and is followed by a kids’ run. Lots of excitement about “South Park” as fans anticipate the reopening of Casa Bonita in Denver, but if you’d like a little weekend road trip to the real Fairplay first, this is for you. You’ll recognize the town’s name from the show. And in Fairplay, South Park Pottery is opening a museum dedicated to the show and all its little characters. Grand opening Saturday in the shop that has been open for 37 years. It has carried “South Park” merchandise since 1997 but put aside one of everything for the museum. See southparkpottery.com

After 12 seasons, Josep Caballé-Domenech conducts his final Colorado Springs Philharmonic concerts this weekend at Pikes Peak Center. It’s a fitting program, Gustav Mahler’s “Symphony No. 9,” which was also the composer’s final work. Tickets: csphilharmonic.org/event/mahler-9/

Get starter plants and organic herbs for your garden at the nonprofit Urban Farm sale, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., 10200 Smith Road. Vegetable starts include heirloom tomatoes, hot peppers, specialty herbs and more. A unique music program by famed Swallow Hill: Sensory Inclusive: Colorado History Through Song. From the Indigenous people to miners, wagon trains and settlers and through the history pages with song, ending with modern favorites. Because it’s sensory friendly, there are no loud, startling sounds, sound levels are lower and audience members will wave their hands instead of clapping. A “safe room” will be available. MAY and JUNE

Welcome to a two-month Pollinator Palooza at the Butterfly Pavilion in Westminster with a newly opened Pollinator Place showing their importance in nature. Pollinators from around the world include a greenhouse of bumble bees, beetles and ants. Learn about them in interactive activities for all ages and a beginning gardening workshop and about volunteers building sites.
