Denver Starbucks workers allege retaliation for union vote
DENVER (KDVR) — A bunch says they’re elevating cash for former espresso firm staff they are saying had been fired for voting to unionize.
“We’re not gonna again down,” says Ashyah Secrest, who works at a Starbucks in Cherry Creek North, which isn’t connected to the GoFundMe narrative.
Secrest mentioned her retailer location is ready to vote on unionization within the coming weeks.
“Negotiate our personal contract,” the 19-year-old barista mentioned. “Get a seat on the desk.”
The GoFundMe web page says three native Starbucks Shops lately voted to unionize. The narrative alleges that since then some staff at these three areas have been terminated for alleged shortcomings, akin to poor efficiency or tardiness.
The GoFundMe account seeks to lift cash for misplaced wages and insurance coverage.
A name to Starbucks’ company line late Thursday afternoon was not returned.
