Colorado
Triple-digit temperatures lingering in southern Colorado — and it’s even worse inside your parked car!
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) – If you think it’s hot outside, inside your car is even worse!
On a 90-degree day, it takes as little as 20 minutes for your parked vehicle to reach 119 degrees — think a Death Valley summer. In an hour, your car will hit 133 degrees, which is one degree shy of the hottest temperature ever recorded on Earth.
And right now in southern Colorado, 90 degrees sounds cool! The region is in the midst of a triple-digit heat wave, which isn’t expected break until mid-week.
This means even that five-minute errand can be life-threatening if you leave your child or your pet in your car! And, again, with temperatures well over 90 degrees for a couple more days, the above numbers are going to happen even quicker.
So when you exit your car, check all of your seats to make sure your most precious cargo still isn’t inside!
