Pedestrian hit and injured by suspected DUI driver near downtown Colorado Springs

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) – A pedestrian was seriously hurt after police say they were hit by a suspected drunk driver Sunday night.

Police were called to Cimarron Street just east of I-25 at 10:15 p.m., where they found the injured pedestrian and the driver, who did remain on scene. The pedestrian was rushed to the hospital and is expected to survive.

Eastbound Cimarron was closed at 8th Street for an hour while officers investigated the scene.

The driver was evaluated for intoxication and ultimately arrested on DUI-related vehicular assault charges. Police identified her as Gwyn Gustafson.
