2 children confirmed victims in murder-suicide in small Colorado community

LA JUNTA, Colo. (KKTV) – Two children under 3 were among the victims in a horrible act of violence in a small Colorado town.

On the night of June 11, La Junta police officers responded to a home near Blaine Park, where they found two adults and a small child dead, and a second child badly injured. All had been shot. First responders attempted life-saving measures on the surviving child before transporting them to a Denver hospital, but the child later died.

Wednesday, the Otero County coroner confirmed the case was a murder-suicide and provided the identities of the deceased to 11 News:

Andrew Martinez Chavez, 30

Rhyle King, 24

Xena Gabriella Martinez-King, 2 years 11 months

Xander Roy Martinez-King, 1 year 8 months

Authorities have not said who is the suspect in the case. The relationship between the four has also not been released, but the Colorado Bureau of Investigation said early on that they all knew each other.
