Convicted killer slain in California prison attack
A California jail inmate serving a life sentence has died after he was attacked with hand-made weapons by two different prisoners, state corrections officers mentioned Tuesday.
William Quintero, 47, was attacked Monday in a recreation yard at Centinela State Jail and was airlifted to a hospital the place he died about 9 hours later, authorities mentioned.
Two weapons had been recovered.
The jail is situated in Imperial County, north of the Mexican border.
Quintero and his alleged attackers, Jose Perez and Juan Serrano, had been all serving life sentences with out the potential for parole.
Quintero was serving his sentence from Los Angeles County for first-degree homicide, kidnapping and theft.
